Princess Cruises Cancels Nearly All Remaining Cruises This Year

Published reports indicate that Princess Cruise Line will cancel all sailings through November and much of December, making it the first major cruise company to cancel nearly all remaining cruises in 2020 .

ThePointsGuys.com reports that Princess plans to cancel most sailings until at least December 15, including itineraries to the “Caribbean, California Coast, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal, South America and Antarctica, Asia and the South Pacific.” Additionally, Princess will cancel Australian cruises through October.

In a statement, the company’s president said that though the company is disappointed it nevertheless “look[s] forward to the days when we can return to travel and the happiness it brings to all who cruise.”

Princesses’ cancellations extend far beyond the current U.S. Centers for Disease Control no-sail order, which is set to extend through the end of September. With increased uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, authorities seem to want to provide cruise companies with additional time to shore up their sanitation protocols in order to help ensure passenger safety.

Princess announced that those affected by the cancellations will either receive a full refund or can opt for a 125% is credit.
