Police Continue To Investigate Deadly Pride Parade Crash
Fort Lauderdale authorities have indicated that they believe that the deadly crash at Saturday’s Pride Parade may have been due to unexpected acceleration.
Local10.com reports that the crash occurred after officials selected a 77-year-old attendee to drive the lead vehicle due to physical issues that prevented him from walking.
As the driver moved the vehicle forward just before the start of the parade, the vehicle reportedly accelerated unexpectedly. The vehicle struck two men, resulting in both of them being transported to Broward Health Medical Center with serious injuries.
One of the victims later died, while the other is expected to survive.
The driver of the vehicle is reportedly cooperating with the police.
