Norovirus Outbreak Causes Royal Caribbean to Cancel Cruise
Authorities are saying that the stomach illness affecting hundreds of cruise ship passengers is norovirus.
Norovirus causes symptoms including extreme nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is a virus that is known to be very contagious. Some studies have shown that it can become airborne, but norovirus is normally transmitted through person to person contact or in food preparations.
The outbreak has caused Royal Caribbean to cancel the rest of the itinerary of the affected ship, the Oasis of the Seas.
