Nissan to Recall Over 300,000 Vehicles For Defect That Could Cause SUV Hoods To Pop Up

Automaker Nissan is recalling over 300,000 SUVs due to a defect that could cause the vehicles’ hoods to suddenly open.

Reuters.com reports that the defect could affect up to 322,671 Pathfinder SUVs manufactured between 2013 and 2016.

According to Nissan, the hoods may open when dirt and dust accumulates on the secondary hood latch, causing it to stay open even when the hood is closed. This can allow the hoods to fly open suddenly and unexpectedly.

The report does not indicate whether any crashes or injuries have resulted from the defect.
