Nissan Recalls Nearly 700,000 SUVs Due to Fire Risk
Automaker Nissan is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles due to a defect that could present a fire risk.
ConsumerReports.org reports that the issue involves a “poorly insulated electrical connector located in the driver’s footwell—the area in a vehicle where the driver’s legs go.” Moisture in the area can cause corrosion on a connector that could then lead to electrical issues or possibly even a fire.

Signs that something is wrong could include failure of the power windows or power seats, a burning odor, or an illuminated all-wheel-drive warning light.
Though Nissan told the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration of at least four incidents involving the defect, apparently none resulted in a crash.
