News: Wrong-way driver causes deadly crash on Dolphin Expressway
MIAMI, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a wrong-way driver caused a fatal collision in northwest Miami-Dade County Saturday morning.
The accident occurred on the Dolphin Expressway (State Road 836) near 17th Avenue at about 7 a.m. Troopers said the driver of a Hyundai was going east in the westbound lanes of the roadway and crashed head-on into a Nissan sedan, according to WPLG.
The Nissan driver died at the scene, while the Hyundai driver was critically injured and taken to Ryder Trauma Center.
State Road 836 was shut down westbound while troopers investigated the wreck, and motorists were advised to take alternate routes.
