News: Wrong-way crash on US 1 in South Miami-Dade leaves 2 drivers dead
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Two people were killed in a wrong-way accident on U.S. 1 in South Miami-Dade Wednesday afternoon.
WSVN reports the crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway near mile marker 124 at about 4 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Chevy sedan was going north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 1 and slammed into a Toyota pickup truck head-on.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. They were reported to be two men, but their names were not released. Another person was injured and transported to a hospital.
The FHP is investigating the cause of the accident, which shut down U.S. 1 between Miami-Dade and Monroe County.
