News: Woman struck, killed by vehicle while crossing Lighthouse Point roadway
LIGHTHOUSE POINT, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred in Lighthouse Point.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Devon Perez of Pompano Beach. Investigators said she was trying to cross North Federal Highway Friday night at about 9:46 p.m. After clearing the northbound lanes and the center median, Perez entered the southbound lanes of the highway, where she was struck by a 2018 Audi A5 traveling in the right-thru lane.
Witnesses said the driver of the Audi was not able to observe the pedestrian until she was struck. Perez was pronounced dead after being taken to Broward Health North.
Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives say neither excessive speed nor impairment on the driver’s part are considered contributing factors to the crash.
