News: Woman rescued after car crashes into canal in El Portal
MIAMI, FL – An El Portal police officer came to the rescue of a woman whose car crashed into a canal Tuesday evening, according to WSVN.
Police said Sabrina Anderson was involved in a collision with another vehicle in the area of North Miami Avenue and 86th Street at about 5 p.m. Anderson’s car went through a construction site, through a fence and then into the water.
Police officer Angel Lopez entered the canal and pulled Anderson from the car, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews then pulled her up an embankment. Anderson was not seriously injured, and no one else was in the car.
Officer Lopez, who was off-duty at the time, had spotted the car in the canal while on his way home from work.
