News: Woman facing vehicular homicide charge for fatal wreck in Miami
MIAMI, FL – Police said they have made an arrest stemming from a fatal two-car crash in Miami last Friday morning, NBC Miami reports.
21-year-old Shamonni Alexandre-Little is facing two felony charges, vehicular homicide in a reckless manner and driving without a license causing death.
Authorities said Alexandre-Little was driving a Mercedes-Benz C300 in North Bay Village at about 4 a.m. when she refused to stop for police. She continued at high speed until she went through a red light at Northeast 82nd Street and Biscayne Boulevard and crashed into a Toyota Corolla proceeding through the intersection, police said.
A woman in the other car, 22-year-old Shereka Oriscar, was pronounced dead at the scene. Alexandre-Little’s license was not valid due to seven suspensions, according to an arrest report.
She was hospitalized and will be lodged in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center upon her release.
