News: Woman charged in Palm Beach County crash that killed motorcyclist
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A woman has been charged in connection with a crash that caused the death of a motorcyclist in Palm Beach County last February, WPEC reports.
34-year-old Samantha Marie Demaio of Wellington is facing DUI charges, according to the report. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said she was driving in the area of South Jog Road and Summit Boulevard in Greenacres when she struck the back of a motorcycle. The sheriff’s office said Demaio did not pay attention to traffic that was stopped ahead of her.
The motorcycle rider, 34-year-old Andrew Bonhoure of Riviera Beach, sustained fatal injuries.
An arrest report said Demaio told authorities she had taken a needle of heroin the night before the crash, and investigators said tests showed the presence of fentanyl, cocaine, and benzoylecgonine in her system.
