News: U. of Miami linebacker identified as among those injured in crash
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – New details emerged Monday on the victims of a fatal crash in northeast Miami-Dade County Friday night.
This is an update to a previous story.
WPLG reports one of those injured in the accident was Wesley Bissainthe, a freshman linebacker at the University of Miami who graduated from Miami Central High School. He was reported to have sustained an injured ankle.
A driver identified as 52-year-old Saul Dauphin was killed in the wreck that occurred in the area of Ives Dairy Road and Northeast 3rd Court.
Investigators said Dauphin’s Lexus entered the path of a Mercedes Benz driven by 18-year-old Zaylan Reese, causing a collision. A total of five passengers, ages 17 to 18, were hospitalized with minor injuries. A source told the Miami Herald that Bissainthe was riding with four of his former teammates from Miami Central High School.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
