News: Tractor-trailer slams into overpass on Florida’s Turnpike in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, FL – One person was injured after a semi-truck crashed into an overpass along Florida’s Turnpike in Hollywood Monday afternoon, reports NBC Miami.
Authorities said the truck was carrying an excavator that was too high for a concrete bridge at Sheridan Street.
The equipment hit the bridge, causing concrete debris to fall off and hit a vehicle passing on the roadway. A passenger in the vehicle was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Two lanes of the turnpike were closed following the accident, causing major traffic delays through the area.
Inspectors who were called to the scene concluded that there was minor damage to the bridge, and it was deemed safe for passing drivers.
