News: Taxi passenger killed in accident on I-95 north in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a taxi passenger died following a crash in Hollywood Friday night, NBC Miami reported.
The incident occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Hollywood Boulevard at about 10 p.m.
According to the FHP, a bicycle fell off the back rack of a pickup truck and ended up in an express lane. When a sedan veered to try and avoid colliding with the bike, the vehicle was struck by a taxi.
A 42-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man who were passengers in the taxi were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead. The man suffered what were described as incapacitating injuries. Investigators said they were riding in the taxi after having arrived on a flight from Mexico.
The driver of the sedan was not injured.
