News: Police looking for driver who struck 77-year-old woman in Miami
MIAMI, FL – An elderly woman was hospitalized after being struck in Miami by a vehicle that left the scene, WPLG reports.
The incident took place Tuesday evening in the vicinity of Northwest 1st Street and Northwest 26th Avenue at about 6 p.m.
Surveillance video from the area showed that 77-year-old Edelmira Barrios was hit at the intersection by an Infiniti that went through a stop sign. A witness said the driver of the car took off without stopping to help.
Barrios was rushed to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery for a fractured hip. Relatives said she had been walking to a store when the crash occurred. Police are now trying to track down the driver responsible.
