News: Pedestrian walking on I-75 fatally struck by tractor-trailer
WESTON, FL – Authorities are trying to find a truck driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on Interstate 75 early Friday morning, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The vehicle being sought is a Volvo tractor-trailer. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the truck was not able to avoid the pedestrian as he walked in the westbound lanes of I-75 west of Bonaventure Boulevard in Weston.
The victim, a 28-year-old man from Lauderhill, was struck by the vehicle at about 1:15 a.m. He was pronounced dead after being transported to Broward Health Medical Center. State troopers said it was not yet clear why the man was walking on the interstate at that time.
The FHP said the driver of the tractor-trailer kept going after the crash occurred.
