News: Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV in Oakland Park hit-and-run
OAKLAND PARK, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a deadly hit-and-run incident that occurred Saturday night in Oakland Park.
Investigators say a man was crossing near the intersection of Northwest Ninth Avenue and West Oakland Park Boulevard at about 10:35 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle. Detectives believe it may have been a white sports utility vehicle.
The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, landed in a lane of Northwest Ninth Avenue and was pronounced dead by Oakland Park Fire Rescue.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the vehicle slowed down and then left the scene while continuing northbound. The pedestrian was crossing the road in an area not marked as a crosswalk.
Anyone with information about the crash was asked to contact the Broward Sheriff’s Office or Broward Crime Stoppers.
