News: Pedestrian dies after being struck by van in Central Broward
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office reports it is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident in unincorporated Central Broward on Sunday night.
The incident took place in the 1900 block of State Road 7 just before 9 p.m. Investigators say 53-year-odl Geronimo Perez-Garcia of Fort Lauderdale was attempting to walk across the roadway from west to east when he entered into the path of a northbound Ford Transit. Perez-Garcia was struck by the vehicle’s front driver side and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle was driven by 26-year-old Andres Echeverri of Fort Lauderdale. Detectives do not believe that excessive speed or impairment on the part of Echeverri contributed to the crash.
