News: New York Jets player charged with DUI in Fort Lauderdale crash
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A New York Jets player is facing charges in connection with a February car crash in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Today reports.
Jets safety Marcus Maye reportedly was driving a Mercedes SUV when he crashed into the back of a Volvo while driving Feb. 22 on Florida’s Turnpike at about 7:30 p.m. No one was injured in the incident.
Maye was charged with three misdemeanors including driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, according to Broward County court records.
The driver of the other vehicle was reported to have filed a civil lawsuit against the 28-year-old player. A court hearing in the case is set for Oct. 20.
Maye’s lawyer said the player did not commit any crime, and was not intoxicated or impaired. Maye was chosen by the Jets in the second round of the 2017 draft.
