News: Motorcyclist killed in crash with car in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Authorities say a man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car in Palm Beach County Friday night.
According to WPTV, the motorcyclist was operating a Suzuki GSX-R1000 on Okeechobee Boulevard when the accident occurred near Citation Drive at 7:24 p.m.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says the victim was identified as 28-year-old Clint Wayne Southard. Investigators determined that Southard improperly applied the rear brake and steered toward a Cadillac ATS that was making a left turn onto Citation Drive.
The motorcycle struck one of the car’s rear doors. Southard and the motorcycle were knocked to the ground, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
It has been determined that accidents are 37 percent more likely to be fatal to motorcycle riders than to drivers or passengers of cars.
