News: Moped rider killed in collision with car in west Miami-Dade
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Authorities said a car and a moped were involved in a deadly collision Sunday night in west Miami-Dade, according to WPLG.
The incident happened on Krome Avenue near Southwest 8th Street, where the moped was traveling ahead of a Toyota sedan as both were heading north at about 10 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of the Toyota was not able to observe the moped in time and hit the back of it. The impact caused both the car and the moped to go onto a shoulder of the roadway, with the car ending up on its roof.
The moped rider was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name was not released. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.
The FHP is investigating the cause of the crash, and there was no word on whether any charges would be filed.
