News: Miami Heat security guard killed in car accident while on way to work
MIAMI GARDENS, FL – A Miami Heat security guard was killed in a car crash near his Miami Gardens home last week, WPLG reports.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Stephan Maze, who worked at the American Airlines Arena.
According to his mother Kesta Nelson, Maze was headed to work after leaving their apartment in the area of North Miami Avenue and Northwest 188th Street when the accident occurred Tuesday night.
A car crashed into Maze’s car, and the driver of the other vehicle abandoned his car and left the scene, witnesses said. Police said they had located the owner of the car that was abandoned, but no arrests had been made yet.
The Heat posted a message on social media asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Miami Gardens Police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers. Maze had worked as a guard at the arena for five years.
