News: Miami Beach police officer struck in distracted driving incident
MIAMI, FL – An accident blamed on a distracted driver left a Miami Beach police officer hospitalized, according to WPLG.
Police said the officer was working an investigation involving narcotics Thursday evening when he was struck by an Uber driver in the area of Collins Avenue and 14th Street.
Investigators said the driver was texting at the time of the crash. The officer was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.
The driver was issued several citations, including texting while driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
