News: Man charged with DUI manslaughter in Miami crash that left 3 dead
MIAMI, FL – Police have made an arrest in connection with a crash in Miami last month that left three people dead, NBC Miami reports.
The suspect in the Feb. 13 incident was identified as 26-year-old Erwin Rommel Recinos Zuniga of Miami-Dade. Police said Zuniga was driving at high speed on West Flagler Street at about 3 a.m. and trying to pass other vehicles when he struck a median.
Zuniga lost control of the vehicle, hit a light pole and crashed into a sign at a Valero gas station near Southwest 48th Avenue.
Two of the passengers in his vehicle were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, while a third died later at an area hospital. A fourth passenger was critically injured.
Zuniga was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter and reckless homicide. He was driving at a speed of 126 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone at the time, according to investigators.
