News: Man arrested in Miami Gardens hit-and-run that killed Miami Heat security guard
MIAMI GARDENS, FL – A suspect is under arrest in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash in Miami Gardens in 2021, reports WPLG.
This is an update to a previous story.
The victim was 35-year-old Stephan Maze, a security guard for the Miami Heat. He was headed to work at the arena March 9 when he was killed in a car crash near his apartment in the area of North Miami Avenue and Northwest 189th Terrace in Miami Gardens. The other driver got into another vehicle and left the scene, police said.
Authorities said the driver involved in the wreck, 31-year-old Brandon Hunter, has now been arrested on charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash.
He was stopped by Sunrise police and will be transferred to Miami-Dade County.
