News: Hit-and-run driver sought following death of man in West Park
WEST PARK, FL – Authorities said a driver fled the scene after striking a man in West Park Friday morning, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Broward County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene on Southwest 42nd Avenue near Southwest 20th Street following the incident that occurred at about 6:00 a.m.
Investigators determined that a man who had been lying in the street was struck by a car that did not stop. The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not clear why he had been in the street.
Based on car parts collected from the scene, detectives believe the vehicle involved was a 2017 or newer model Mercedes-Benz sedan of unknown color. The car is thought to have damage to the lower half of the right front passenger side.
Anyone with information regarding the crash was asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers.
