News: Fort Pierce man sentenced for DUI crash that left 5 dead
FORT PIERCE, FL – The driver involved in a crash that killed five people in St. Lucie County was sentenced to prison on Tuesday.
According to WPTV, 24-year-old Tanner Dashner of Fort Pierce was sentenced to 72 years behind bars for the wreck that occurred on Nov. 23, 2018.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Dashner was driving drunk when his GMC Yukon crashed into the back of a Dodge Dakota in the area of South 25th Street and Midway Road.
The driver of the Dakota and four passengers were killed, ranging in age from 17 to 27. A fifth passenger was injured.
Investigators found bottles of liquor in Dashner’s car and said that he was driving 97 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone at the time of the collision. He was charged with five counts of DUI manslaughter.
