News: Fort Lauderdale man killed in multi-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach
POMPANO BEACH, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a multi-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach that left one person dead.
The BSO issued a news release on the incident that occurred Monday evening at the intersection of Southeast 15th Street and South Federal Highway.
The sheriff’s office said 76-year-Farideh Shafagh of Fort Lauderdale was driving north in a Volkswagen Jetta at about 7 p.m. when she made a left from South Federal Highway onto Southeast 15th Street. The Volkswagen entered the path of a Honda CBR1000 driven by 27-year-old Delerick Easter II, causing the Honda to hit the Volkswagen in a T-bone style collision.
The Honda then struck the front of a Hyundai Elantra that was stopped at the intersection.
Easter, a Fort Lauderdale resident, was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead after being taken to Broward Health Medical Center. Shafagh and a passenger in her car were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck. They do not believe that excessive speed or impairment were contributing factors.
