News: Elderly bicyclist dies after being hit by SUV in Delray Beach
DELRAY BEACH, FL – Authorities said an elderly bicycle rider died after being hit by an SUV in Palm Beach County Friday.
According to the Palm Beach Post, 75-year-old Neil J. Goldman was riding his bike south on the shoulder of Lyons Road near West Atlantic Avenue when the accident occurred at 12:17 p.m.
Investigators with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said a 79-year-old Boynton Beach woman was driving a Lexus RX350 south on Lyons Avenue when she swerved out of her lane and struck Goldman.
The victim, a Boynton Beach resident, was knocked into the grass on the side of the road and was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver was not hurt. So far no charges have been filed, and investigators do not believe the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
