News: Driver injured, family displaced after SUV slams into Hallandale Beach home
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A Hallandale Beach family had to scramble for safety after an early morning crash sent an SUV into their home, reports NBC Miami.
Police and rescue crews responded to the scene Tuesday on Southwest 11th Street near Southwest 2nd Avenue, where a driver lost control of the SUV shortly before 2 a.m.
The vehicle rolled, went through a fence and slammed into the house. then burst into flames.
Family members were able to get out of the house safely and none of the residents were injured. The driver was ejected from the SUV and was transported to Aventura Hospital.
The house was deemed uninhabitable and the family has now been displaced.
Hallandale Beach are investigating the cause of the crash, and indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor.
