News: Driver charged with leaving scene after crashing into Hollywood building
HOLLYWOOD, FL – Authorities say they arrested a man who left the scene after crashing into a building in Hollywood, NBC Miami reports.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said the man was driving at high speed while going over railroad tracks on Sheridan Street just before 5 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle went airborne, hit a curb and ended up slamming into the building near the 2200 block of Sheridan Street near North 22nd Avenue.
According to investigators, the driver then took off the license plate and left on foot before the vehicle caught fire. He was followed by a witness who helped police track him down. The man was charged with fleeing the scene of an accident with property damage.
The building was unoccupied, and there were no reports of injuries.
