News: Driver arrested after man dies in Port St. Lucie golf cart accident
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A driver was arrested after a man fell off a golf cart and was killed in Port St. Lucie Tuesday night.
According to WPEC, the incident took place at the Floridian National Golf Club on SE Floridian Drive. Investigators said that three people were riding on a golf cart when it went over a raised manhole cover.
A man who was standing in the back of the cart, Christopher Cipra of Texas, fell off the vehicle and hit the roadway. He was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
Police said the man who was driving the golf cart, 53-year-old John Hehr of Texas, has been charged with DUI manslaughter.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
