News: Driver arrested after crashing into Florida Highway Patrol cruiser on I-95
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A driver is under arrest after authorities said he intentionally crashed into a Florida Highway Patrol cruiser, WSVN reports.
25-year-old Tate Turner was arrested on felony charges for the incident that occurred on Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale. The FHP said Turner drove through closed lanes and rear-ended the marked patrol car of a state trooper who was working an off-duty detail at a construction zone. Turner later told investigators he slammed into the vehicle on purpose.
The trooper sustained minor injuries and the patrol vehicle was damaged.
According to state troopers, Turner said he struck the car because he wanted to go to jail. But he did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
