News: Detectives investigating fatal pedestrian crash in Pompano Beach
POMPANO BEACH, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has released information regarding a deadly pedestrian crash in Pompano Beach earlier this month.
The accident took place Oct. 17 near the 1900 block of North Federal Highway. Authorities said a female pedestrian was crossing the road headed east at about 8:46 p.m. when she was struck by a 2002 Ford Explorer. She was not in a designated crosswalk at the time.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue paramedics. The driver of the Explorer, 47-year-old George Kephart of Pompano Beach, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Traffic homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident. It is not believed that excessive speed or impairment were contributing factors.
