NBC Miami reports the incident involved two women who were working Thursday at 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida in the 300 block of E. Commercial Boulevard.
Investigators said one woman was working with a dog there at about 11 a.m. when it suddenly snapped and started attacking her. The second woman tried to help, but also was bitten.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and fire rescuers responded to the scene, and the women were rushed to area hospitals. One of the victims was pronounced dead, while the other sustained minor injuries.
