News: Car accident on Boca Raton highway leaves woman dead
BOCA RATON, FL – A driver was killed when her car was struck by another vehicle in Boca Raton Saturday night, police said.
According to Boca News Now, the accident took place in the 2800 block of North Federal Highway at about 9 p.m. Boca Raton police said the driver of a 2012 Nissan was heading north on Federal Highway when the vehicle was struck by a Mercedes-Benz that was approaching the intersection with NE 29th Street.
The driver of the Nissan was thrown from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified by police as 51-year-old Leann Cheatham of Boynton Beach.
Witnesses indicated speed was a contributing factor in the wreck, though the cause remains under investigation by police.
It took several hours for investigators to clear the scene, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
