News: Bicyclist struck by hit-and-run driver in Brickell
MIAMI, FL – Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a bicyclist in Miami Friday morning.
According to WSVN, Michael Hernandez was hit while riding near Brickell Avenue and 14th Street in the Brickell neighborhood at about 6:30 a.m. Hernandez told a reporter he believed the motorist was going at about 50 or 60 miles an hour when the vehicle ran into the back of his bike.
The driver initially fled the scene, but returned a half hour later to retrieve a knapsack and a small bag from the vehicle, which may have been some kind of contraband material. Witnesses stopped the man from getting into an Uber, but he was apparently able to flee the scene on foot.
Hernandez, who was not seriously injured in the crash, said he managed to take a picture of the driver.
Anyone with information about the accident was asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
