News: Bicyclist killed in collision with vehicle in Deerfield Beach
DEERFIELD BEACH, FL – A collision that killed a bicycle rider in Deerfield Beach last week is under investigation, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
BSO deputies responded to the area of East Sample Road and North Dixie Highway on March 1 after a call regarding a traffic crash shortly after 9 a.m.
An initial investigation determined that the driver of a BMW 530i was going west on Sample Road and struck a man riding a Trek 8700 Carbon bicycle who was turning left to continue north on Dixie Highway. The cyclist, whose name was not released, died at the scene.
The BSO said the 58-year-old driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Traffic homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
