News: Alleged drunk driver charged in fatal accident on Sunny Isles Beach bridge
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FL – A suspected drunk driver is facing charges in a crash on October 15th that killed another motorist in Sunny Isles Beach.
According to NBC Miami, 33-year-old Irina Shadrina turned herself in on Monday in connection with the incident that occurred on the Sunny Isles Beach bridge near Collins Avenue.
Authorities said 61-year-old Lionel Marquez was driving a Ferrari that became disabled on the bridge. When he got out of the car to check the engine, he was struck by a Maserati driven by Shadrina. The impact caused Marquez to fall over the bridge and into the water, and his body was located the following morning.
Shadrina remained on the scene, and police said a test showed her blood-alcohol content was three times the legal limit. She has been charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide, and was released from jail after posting bond.
