News: 70-year-old pedestrian struck, killed by tractor-trailer on Florida Turnpike
MIRAMAR, FL – A 70-year-old pedestrian died following an accident on the Florida Turnpike Saturday morning, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the male victim was walking across the turnpike near the exit for 27th Avenue/University Drive in Miramar when he was struck by a tractor-trailer at about 6 a.m. The truck was driven by a 46-year-old Orlando man who was not able to stop in time, according to investigators.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the name of the victim, who was believed to be homeless.
Troopers are investigating the fatal accident.
