News: 3 dead after collision between SUV and motorcycle in Key Largo
KEY LARGO, FL – An accident in the Florida Keys Saturday night left three people dead, according to the Florida Keys News.
The incident happened on U.S. 1 south at mile marker 96 in Key Largo just before 7 p.m. Initial reports indicated that the driver of a Honda motorcycle crashed into a Buick Enclave SUV that was making a left turn into the Buttonwood Bay condominiums. The SUV rolled over and caught fire.
The motorcycle operator and the two people in the Enclave sustained fatal injuries. Their identities were not released.
At the time of the crash, the Honda and another motorcycle were reportedly traveling on U.S. 1 at a high rate of speed, according to information from the 911 call center. The other bike kept going south after the collision.
The highway was shut down for nearly six hours while police and emergency crews responded to the scene, causing major traffic delays.
