News: 2 people killed when car rear-ends SUV at Lighthouse Point intersection
LIGHTHOUSE POINT, FL – A fiery crash in Lighthouse Point over the weekend left two people dead, according to WPLG.
The incident at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Northeast 49th Street was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.
A white SUV that had stopped at a red light in the southbound lanes of U.S. 1 was struck from behind by another car, causing at least one of the vehicles to catch fire. No information was immediately released on the identities of the two victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
A law enforcement vehicle that was blocking off the intersection was hit by another vehicle, but there was no word on whether anyone was injured.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal crash.
