News: 10-year-old boy on bicycle struck by hit-and-run driver in Coral Springs
CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Police say a young boy riding his bicycle in Coral Springs was struck by a hit-and-run driver, WPLG reports.
The incident happened as the 10-year-old was riding on Northwest 40th Street Sunday night at about 8:40 p.m. Investigators said he was hit by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, whose driver did not stop to render aid.
The vehicle was last seen going east on Northeast 40th Street heading toward Riverside Drive. The boy was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale for treatment, and was expected to survive.
Coral Springs Police said that the driver voluntarily came in to the police department on Monday and was interviewed by detectives about the incident. The pickup involved was impounded as evidence.
There was no immediate word on whether any charges will be filed.
