News: 1 killed, 1 injured when car crashes into tree in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – One man was killed and another was injured when their vehicle crashed in Palm Beach County Friday evening, the Palm Beach Post reports.
The accident happened on Congress Avenue near Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach at about 5:30 p.m. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said 39-year-old Ronald Ray Cook was driving a Nissan Maxima south when he lost control of the vehicle while trying to make a turn onto Gun Club Road. The car skidded and crashed into a tree, according to investigators.
A passenger in the car was killed, and has been identified as 37-year-old Jessie Bernard Fleming of West Palm Beach. Cook was reported to have sustained minor injuries.
Authorities say charges are pending against Cook, who was suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
