News: 1 driver dead, 1injured following high-speed collision near Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS, FL – A collision at an intersection near Palm Springs early Wednesday morning left one driver dead and the other seriously injured, authorities said.
According to a report by WPTV, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said 28-year-old Olivia Maly was driving a Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed at about 2 a.m. on South Military Trail near Forest Hill Boulevard.
The Challenger crashed into an Acura LIX, then struck a power pole and overturned. Maly, a west Boca Raton resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Acura, 38-year-old Patrice Sajous, was seriously injured.
The sheriff’s office is investigating to determine whether Maly was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
