News: 1 dead, 4 hospitalized after vehicles collide in Oakland Park
WEST PARK, FL – A woman died and four other people were hospitalized after a crash in Oakland Park on Tuesday night, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said.
Two cars were involved in the accident in the 900 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard at about 9:21 p.m.
Investigators said the driver of a Chevrolet Cavalier was going west on West Oakland Park Boulevard while the driver of a Kia Forte was heading east as both vehicles approached the intersection with Powerline Road on a solid green light. The driver of the Kia Forte tried to make a U-turn at Powerline Road and was struck on the rear passenger side by a Chevrolet Cavalier in a T-bone type collision, the sheriff’s office said..
Five people in the vehicles were taken to an area hospital, where a female passenger in the Kia was pronounced dead. The driver of the Kia sustained life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are investigating the cause of the crash.
