New York Man Arrested after Allegedly Assaulting Woman While on Cruise
Multiple news outlets report that a New York man has been arrested for assaulting a woman while the two sailed aboard a cruise ship earlier this week.
Boston 25 News reports that 45-year-old Farmingville, New York resident Adam Damian Panetta appeared in federal court yesterday, after being arrested following the cruise. Panetta is charged with one count of assault resulting in substantial bodily injury after he was caught on surveillance camera striking a woman in the face as the two sailed on the Norwegian Gem cruise ship together.
The report indicates that Panetta and the unidentified woman were first seen on camera walking into an onboard bar at about 2:00 a.m. The woman was apparently unsteady and stumbled and fell to the ground multiple times while in the bar. The pair left the bar hand in hand, the report says.
About 16 minutes after leaving the bar, a surveillance recording shows Panetta dragging the victim down the hall by her hair, then punching her twice in the face. About a half hour later the pair appears on video again. This time, the woman is holding a towel to her face, apparently wiping away blood.
The victim later sought medical treatment at the ship’s infirmary and was treated for a laceration which required five stitches.
